Kartik Aaryan has ventured into character-driven roles with Kabir Khan‘s latest film, based on the inspiring life of Padma Shri awardee Mr. Muralikant Petkar, also known as Chandu Champion. In the early 1950s, young Muralikant witnessed Khashaba Jadhav’s triumphant return from the Olympics, sparking a dream to win gold for India. Under Tiger Ali’s guidance (played by Vijay Raaj), Murali becomes an Olympic sensation but faces setbacks that test his resilience, including severe wartime injuries that leave him paralyzed. Will he fulfill his dream of bringing Olympic gold to India? Thus begins his journey of resurgence.
Chandu Champion, while inspiring, suffers from repetitive storytelling and fictional embellishments. However, it underscores the importance of telling stories like Muralikant Petkar’s, even if they echo others. Directors and screenwriters must find innovative ways to present such narratives.
